Christophe Glaise Remains Jailed in Algeria for Reporting on Football
French journalist Christophe Glaise has been held in an Algerian prison for more than a year after being sentenced to seven years for meeting a contact on a government blacklist during a reporting assignment on a local football club. FIFA issued accreditation in his name, resulting in an empty seat at the upcoming France versus Senegal match as a show of support from colleagues and family. Didier Deschamps received a question submitted by Glaise through his parents and voiced hope that the journalist would soon be freed to resume his work.
